False prophets are everywhere these days, declaring this and declaring that. While we’ve been given power over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19), we need to be wise as serpents (Matthew 10:16) when it comes to those who declare prosperity or victory over our lives for God does not promise us victory and prosperity in this life. If that is His will, so be it, but it is by no means guaranteed and declaring it cannot make it so. Neither must we allow ourselves to have itching ears (2 Timothy 4:3-4) for those who preach the comfortable doctrines of devils (1 Timothy 4:1). The wolf in sheep’s clothing is adept at presenting himself as a man of God (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), but we must always remember that it is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man (Psalms 118:8).
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. (Matthew 7:15-20)
